Subject: Design and evaluate adaptive replication schemes on edge networks, to deliver cloud storage services under tough SLA contracts.

MSc in Computer Science Federal University of Pernambuco (CIn/UFPE) - 2005-2007

Main research topics: Computer networks and distributed systems.
Dissertation: An extended analysis of P2P traffic.

BSc in Computer Networks and TelecommunicationsIFET-PB - 1999-2003

Technical report subject: Project design and administration in computer networking, Internet traffic analysis.

Experience

Laboratory for Analysis and Architecture of Systems, LAAS-CNRS Since 2013

Postdoctoral researcher

Design and evaluation of anomaly detection schemes for enhancing the dependability of shared storage systems for cloud platforms.
Project:

  • Secured Virtual Cloud (Investisement d'avenir): Development and integration of a safe middleware infrastructure for cloud computing.

LIP6 at UPMC Sorbonne Universités 2008-2010

Study Engineer

Contributing to the open-source code base as developer, writing technical reports and proposals, following up on interns, as well as performing system administration of a heterogeneous global-scale platform.
Project:

  • OneLab Project: developing, maintaining and federating a large-scale, general-purpose platform based on open-source PlanetLab software.

Scientific Software:

  • MySlice and PlanetLab: charged of designing and implementing a set of tools for optimising resource allocation procedures over PlanetLab, a highly distributed and heterogeneous platform.

GPRT team at Federal University of Pernambuco 2004-2007

Study Engineer

Development of network traffic analysis tools, P2P system and self-protection security architecture. The development relied on DHT, probability statistics theories, data mining and information theory techniques.
Projects:

  • BTMA: Characterization of Internet traffic by extensive statistical analysis and formal modelling.
  • Robust-IP: Design and developing of a self-reliant security architecture.
  • RNP’s GTP2P Project: providing a middleware (XPeer) to improve the development and deployment of new P2P systems.

Scientific Software:

  • Analyser-PX and NTPC: developed a set of tools for capturing and classifying P2P traffic based on communication partners and users behaviour, by using data mining and information theory approaches.

Publications:

  • five papers, one master’s dissertation and one tutorial (further information in my research page).

Department of Health of the Brazilian State of Paraíba 2002-2003

Chief Networking Engineer

Network design, deployment and management of distributed and heterogeneous systems with a focus on reliability and security. The network was spread across 223 different cities, mostly administrated remotely.
Project:

  • Network project: design and deployment of network infrastructure of the main site and remote networks by relying on a top-down design approach.

Scientific software
AREM-BM (2010-2012): Design and development of open-source bandwidth simulation module for PeerSim.

MySlice and PlanetLab (2008-2010): Development a set of tools for optimising resource allocation procedures over PlanetLab, a highly distributed and heterogeneous platform.

Analyser-PX and NTPC (2004-2007): Design and development of a set of tools for capturing and classifying P2P traffic based on communication partners and users behaviour, by using data mining and information theory approaches.
